Keeping Prioritized and Being a Productive Homemaker

In an ever more distracted society with technology, social media, and events, we can easily become unfocused, unproductive, and idle. I have fallen victim to many of these simple distractions and have allowed them to govern my day. This has played a significant role in the atmosphere and productivity of my home with negative effects. I believe, as Christians, God calls us to be productive. Its biblical and as an example we see this in Proverbs 31. While a lot of it has to do with self-discipline, I easily have become overwhelmed with remembering the small tasks, let alone the larger ones. A to-list is a must for me as a homemaker.

First and foremost I think its essential to set aside time for planning and prioritizing. For me this is early in the morning before anyone else has gotten up. Usually the night before I gather my materials and supplies I may need for homeschooling, homesteading, and planning. It makes it easier if I'm not beginning my day searching for things.

I have compiled a to-do list, one for each day. As I plan, I make a list of to-do's for the day. The most important tasks are labeled priority and added to that list labeled as such. I try to plan my meals for the week on Monday (sometimes I don't get to that but I have found that I'm much less stressed with meals planned). For days Tuesday-Sunday I have added a note section. I do a lot of brainstorming so it is helpful to have a place to jot down passing thoughts!

I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me!
